Jean-Pierre Bemba was arrested in 2010 and extradited to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

In 2016, the World Court sentenced him to 18 years in prison! The judges believed that his rebels had murdered, raped and plundered under his control in the neighboring Central African Republic.

Surprising news now:

The International Criminal Court overturned the verdict on appeal. Bemba was released and transferred to Belgium, where he lives with his family.

Since then, rumors have spread that he wants to return home to run for presidency…
